About the job
We are hiring a Platform Engineer to join the integrations team. You will build scalable, reliable systems that power growth, billing, and analytics for the Appwrite platform. This role collaborates closely with product, platform, and growth teams to design backend services, data pipelines, and automation that support user acquisition, retention, and operational excellence. You will own projects from concept to deployment and contribute to our open source community.
Responsibilities
- Own billing and payments end-to-end, ensuring transactions are accurate, secure, compliant, and audit-ready.
- Design, build, and scale highly available APIs and backend services across the Appwrite platform.
- Develop and maintain reusable Infrastructure as Code modules to manage environments across cloud providers.
- Build internal tooling to accelerate deployments, manage clusters, and streamline configuration.
- Collaborate with product and platform teams to integrate new services into the architecture.
- Ship intuitive front-end features in the Console that surface usage, billing, and integrations to developers.
- Ensure systems are observable and secure from day one through metrics, tracing, alerts, and policy-as-code.
- Monitor service health, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for cost, latency, and reliability.
- Contribute to documentation, automation, and developer experience improvements.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in backend, cloud, or infrastructure-heavy roles.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or DigitalOcean.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation, for example Bash or Python.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and tools such as GitHub Actions.
- Backend development experience with languages such as PHP, Node.js, Python, Dart, Go, or Ruby.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, message brokers like RabbitMQ, and caching solutions like Redis.
- Strong understanding of web protocols and modern architectural patterns.
- Experience working on growth-oriented backend systems and billing or payments infrastructure is a plus.
- A passion for open source, developer tools, and clean, maintainable code.
