Role summary

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a hands on security and software engineering team responsible for endpoint, SaaS, and corporate security. You will define and execute a strategic vision for endpoint security, partner with Corporate Engineering to integrate security controls, mentor engineers, and balance risk reduction with user enablement to support Coinbase growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions to harden macOS, Chromebook, and mobile endpoints, focusing on secure configurations, compliance, threat detection, and user experience.
• Integrate endpoint, SaaS, and data security with corporate engineering initiatives, ensuring minimal user friction and high assurance.
• Translate the CorpSec vision into actionable roadmaps, prioritize work, and deliver measurable security outcomes.
• Hire, coach, and develop a high performing engineering team aligned to Coinbase culture and security objectives.
• Drive incident response and participate in on call rotations when required, triaging and resolving security incidents and escalations.
• Collaborate with cross functional partners to influence product, engineering, and operations to meet security and compliance goals.

Minimum qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering and security engineering experience.
• 5+ years securing macOS, Chromebook, and SaaS endpoints or equivalent enterprise endpoint security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including hiring, performance management, and mentoring.
• Proven ability to produce high quality code, technical documentation, and operational runbooks, and to lead technical reviews and architecture discussions.
• Strong judgement to balance long term strategy with short term execution and the ability to operate hands on when required.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and corporate functions.

Nice to have

• Experience securing mobile endpoints and using device trust, zero trust network access products, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with Golang, Docker, Terraform, and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience designing and operating production services at scale, and working in regulated environments.
• Background in writing company facing technical content, playbooks, or training materials.

Compensation and benefits

Pay Range: $218,025 - $256,500 USD, depending on work location. Full time offers may include target bonus, equity awards, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, wellness stipends, and parental leave where applicable.

Work model

Coinbase is remote first but not remote only. This role is remote eligible and may require periodic in person participation at offsites and operational events to support collaboration and incident response.
