Worldwide 🌍 Work from Anywhere Full time Senior Posted  Apply before Nov 06, 2025

Job Description

About CloudLinux

CloudLinux builds secure, high-volume Linux infrastructure and security products for hosting providers and enterprises. We are remote-first, employee-focused, and mission-driven. Our platform supports thousands of providers and millions of websites worldwide.

Role overview

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Development Engineer to lead the transformation of our internal platform. This is a senior, high-impact engineering role to move legacy systems to a modern, self-service platform and Infrastructure as Code model. You will stabilise critical systems, design and build an Internal Developer Platform, and drive strategic architectural improvements across virtualization, storage, networking, and CI/CD.

What you will do

  • Perform deep analysis and stabilisation of legacy systems, identifying single points of failure and quick wins such as automated VM cleanup and improved monitoring.
  • Lead design and development of an internal development platform with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and self-service developer workflows.
  • Define and implement SLIs and SLOs for core services and create runbooks for top incidents.
  • Drive a platform transformation to increase automation, reduce manual operations, and eliminate single points of failure across bare metal and cloud environments.
  • Work hands-on with Kubernetes, KubeVirt, Terraform/Terragrunt, Ansible, GitOps tools, and build custom tooling in Python or Go as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Director and cross-functional teams to make strategic architectural decisions and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience migrating legacy infrastructure to modern platforms at scale.
  • Production-grade Kubernetes experience, including multi-tenant deployments and platform hardening.
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform and configuration automation experience with Ansible or similar tools.
  • Extensive Linux experience at scale, managing hundreds to thousands of servers.
  • Network fundamentals and experience with underlay and overlay networking concepts such as BGP, VXLAN, and DNS at scale.
  • Experience with virtualization stacks, storage systems such as Ceph, and multi-cloud environments including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong systems thinking, ability to operate in ambiguous situations, and track record of pragmatic trade-offs between fix, replace, and workaround.

Nice to have

  • Experience with KubeVirt, KubeOps, Cephadm, Juniper networking, and migrating from OpenNebula to modern platforms.
  • Background in building Internal Developer Platforms or GitOps-driven workflows using ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Experience with observability stacks and setting SLIs/SLOs for platform services.

Why this role matters

This role offers the chance to design the future infrastructure used by thousands of customers, to lead a funded transformation with executive backing, and to have significant technical decision-making authority and ownership.

Benefits

  • Competitive senior-level compensation.
  • Fully remote work with flexible hours, work from anywhere worldwide.
  • Paid 24 days of vacation per year, 10 national holidays, and unlimited sick leave.
  • Professional development budget, co-working and gym reimbursements, and medical insurance compensation.
