This role is part of our contractor pool and supports diverse client engagements worldwide.

Role Summary

We are hiring a Contract Senior Web Services Engineer to design and implement scalable backend services, APIs, and data systems that support enterprise grade web applications and user generated content platforms. You will work remotely with cross-discipline teams to deliver secure, performant, and maintainable solutions that integrate with third party platforms and AI services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable database schemas and API interfaces focused on security, performance, and developer experience for enterprise applications.
• Architect and build RESTful APIs and GraphQL solutions, and integrate AI-powered features that bridge legacy systems with modern platforms such as Stripe, Shopify, Salesforce, and OpenAI.
• Build and integrate Customer Data Platforms and AI/ML capabilities including semantic search, RAG, vector embeddings, and prompt engineering to enhance application intelligence.
• Lead end-to-end project execution from scoping and requirements to hands-on development, troubleshooting third party integrations, resolving performance bottlenecks, and writing automated tests.
• Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams and clients to translate complex business requirements into actionable technical solutions across multiple time zones.

What We Look For

• 5+ years of backend API development experience, with practical experience in Python/Django, Node.js/NestJS, or Golang/Gin.
• Experience building APIs for enterprise applications involving complex third party integrations and high-traffic systems.
• Strong system design skills and SQL data modeling for high-traffic applications, with proficiency in performance tuning and security best practices.
• Hands-on experience implementing production-ready LLM features such as semantic search, vector databases, retrieval augmented generation, and prompt engineering.
• Comfort with ambiguity, excellent communication of technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and proven ability to deliver in agile environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience contributing to open-source projects or active participation in relevant developer communities.
• Prior exposure to PHP for legacy integrations when needed.
• Prior contractor or agency experience working on enterprise scale projects.

Contractor Terms

This is a contract role. Contractor fees and compensation are determined based on experience, project scope, geographic location, and business needs. Successful applicants will join Fueled's contractor network and receive invitations to projects matching their expertise and availability.
