Role Overview

Fueled is hiring a Contract Senior Web Engineer to join our global contractor pool. This remote contractor role offers flexible schedules and the opportunity to work on enterprise WordPress projects for leading brands. You will design and implement high-quality WordPress plugins, themes, and Gutenberg blocks while helping shape backend technical strategy on large-scale projects.

What you will do

• WordPress development - Develop enterprise-level WordPress plugins and themes, with a focus on backend engineering and Gutenberg blocks in React.js.
• Technical leadership - Drive back-end technical vision, propose architecture and strategy, and lead large-scale project efforts.
• Code quality - Provide thorough code reviews and ensure high standards for maintainability and performance.
• Problem solving - Solve complex problems with simple, elegant solutions, including debugging performance and caching issues.
• Impact - Deliver high-quality websites, apps, and tools that reach millions of visitors daily.

About you

• You are passionate about WordPress engineering and Gutenberg, with a strong portfolio of work to share.
• Extensive experience in back-end focused web development and modern Git workflows.
• Comfortable presenting ideas to clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Skilled at debugging performance, caching, and production issues.
• Prefer working fully remote and are effective at engaging with a distributed team across time zones.

Contractor fee and compensation

Compensation is determined based on factors including relevant experience, project scope, geographic location, and business needs.
