Team and role summary

The Institutional Product Group builds products for institutional customers including Coinbase Prime, Advanced Trade, custody and related services. The Prime Trading Interfaces team owns public APIs, FIX connectivity, and the Trading Router. These systems handle millions of requests per day and require highly resilient, fault tolerant engineering to maintain 99.99% uptime for critical trading journeys.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and grow a team of 5-6 engineers, establishing team mechanisms and norms for effective execution.
• Collaborate with cross functional partners on product and operational strategy, and translate vision into quarterly roadmaps.
• Coordinate with QA and downstream partners to monitor, triage, and resolve issues.
• Own product surface areas including Prime Public APIs, Prime Public FIX, and the Trading Router.
• Establish operating metrics and ensure the team meets engineering SLAs.
• Drive architectural decisions, promote high quality code, and contribute to scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems.
• Work with talent teams to recruit and develop exceptional engineers.

• Proven experience building and managing full stack or backend engineering teams, with a focus on delivery and team growth.
• Ability to coach direct reports and support career development.
• Experience designing and operating multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale in cloud centric environments.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, design, engineering and operations to deliver complex features.
• Track record of contributing to engineering processes that drive quality and meet SLAs.

Nice to have

• Hands on experience in technical architecture for highly distributed systems.
• Experience managing backend centric or full stack teams and products.

Job ID: P72250. Work model: #LI-Remote. Coinbase is remote first but not remote only - in person participation at offsites and events is expected and supported.

Compensation

Pay Range: $218,025 - $256,500 USD depending on work location. Full time offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision and 401(k).
