Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Platform)

Overview

Join Coinbase's Platform Product Group to build foundational backend systems used across the company. The Platform group builds trusted, scalable, and compliant infrastructure that enables products across Finhub, Payments, Risk, Regulatory, Identity, Machine Learning, and Customer Experience. As a Senior Backend Engineer on Platform, you will design and ship services that operate at scale, integrate with blockchain systems, and support high frequency, low latency traffic.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate backend services in Golang to meet product and business needs.
• Architect scalable systems that solve novel problems using modern cloud platforms and engineering best practices.
• Define long term technical vision and contribute to quarterly roadmaps with product and leadership partners.
• Collaborate across engineering, design, and product to turn vision into shipped work each quarter.
• Write high quality, well tested code and participate in code review, on call rotations, and incident response.
• Drive performance, reliability, and security improvements across production services.

Minimum qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building production services.
• Proven experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining service oriented architectures.
• Track record of delivering high quality, well tested code and collaborating across product and design lifecycles.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containers, and backend databases used at scale.

Nice to have

• Experience with blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, or familiarity with onchain interactions.
• Experience decomposing monoliths into microservices and operating high reliability systems.
• Hands on knowledge of Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.

Compensation and benefits

Pay Range: 191,000 CAD. Full time offers typically include target bonus, target equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans where applicable. Coinbase provides a comprehensive benefits package and wellbeing programs.

Work model

This position is remote eligible and marked as #LI-Remote. Coinbase is remote first but not remote only, and periodic in person participation at offsites and events is expected and supported.
