Role summary

We are hiring an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team inside the Platform Product Group. The Platform Product Group builds the foundational systems that enable many Coinbase products, including identity, payments, risk, proofing, regulatory, Finhub, machine learning, customer experience, and infrastructure. As an Engineering Manager you will recruit, coach, and scale engineering teams while guiding architecture and delivery for multi tenanted, distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage high performing engineering teams that deliver features, services, and platform infrastructure.
• Coach direct reports to grow their impact and careers, and provide clear feedback and mentorship.
• Work closely with product, design, senior leadership, and cross functional partners to translate vision into a quarterly roadmap and deliverable plans.
• Break down complex projects into iterative work, drive execution, and ensure high quality releases and operational readiness.
• Be a thoughtful technical leader who contributes to architecture decisions, code quality, and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with talent and recruiting partners to find and hire exceptional engineers who match Coinbase culture and technical needs.
• Own processes that improve engineering quality and meet service level objectives across the platform.

Minimum qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong record of designing, building, and operating production systems.
• At least 2 years of engineering management experience, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
• Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, high quality code, testing, and release management.
• Experience delivering and operating multi tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Execution oriented, able to balance long term strategy with short term planning and deliver results in ambiguous contexts.
• Comfort being hands on when needed - writing or reviewing code, participating in on call rotations, troubleshooting incidents, and guiding incident response.

Nice to have

• Experience leading Developer Experience, Productivity, or Platform teams.
• Background in fast growth internet or software companies that scaled from startup to large engineering organizations.
• Crypto domain knowledge, familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, or dApps.

Role details

Job ID: GPEM06US. Work model: #LI-Remote. Coinbase is remote first but not remote only, and in-person participation at offsites and events is expected and supported. Compensation and eligibility may vary by location.

Compensation

Pay Range: $218,025 - $256,500 USD. Full time offers may include target bonus, target equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision and retirement plans depending on location.
