The Job

We are hiring a Lead User Researcher to build and scale a world-class research function at Atticus. You will lead mixed-method research across client and lawyer journeys, establish research systems and a repository, and translate insights into prioritized product and business decisions. This is a senior, high-impact role with ownership of research practice, pipelines for regular user feedback, and measurement frameworks that drive UX improvements across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead research initiatives across the organization, designing and running mixed-method programs that answer strategic product questions.
  • Establish and manage a comprehensive research practice and searchable repository for insights, artifacts, and recommendations.
  • Plan and execute qualitative and quantitative studies - interviews, usability testing, diary studies, surveys, remote testing, analytics-driven experiments and cohort analysis.
  • Build processes for continuous user feedback collection, synthesis, and dissemination to product, design, engineering, operations, and leadership.
  • Develop frameworks and metrics for tracking UX improvements, adoption, and business outcomes tied to research-driven changes.
  • Translate research insights into clear, actionable recommendations and influence roadmaps and business priorities.
  • Work independently and with cross-functional partners to scope research, recruit participants, and ship validated solutions at scale.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research across product teams.
  • Proven track record of creating and scaling research practices that directly influenced product roadmaps and business outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and experience combining those methods to answer complex questions.
  • Experience working as a primary or solo researcher, able to lead programs with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with research and analytics tools such as UserInterviews.com, Maze.co, UserTesting.com, Lookback, Looker, Qualtrics, or similar platforms.
  • Portfolio of high-impact research projects showing synthesis, recommendations, and measurable impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present findings to executives and cross-functional teams.

Bonus / Nice-to-Have

  • Early-stage startup experience, complex consumer businesses, two-sided marketplaces, or B2B product work.
  • Experience working in legal, benefits, or high-empathy user domains.

Salary and Benefits

We offer competitive pay, equity, and generous benefits designed to support your health, learning, and work-life balance. Highlights include:

  • Medical and dental insurance with 100% of employee premiums covered.
  • Free membership to OneMedical.
  • 15 vacation days plus approximately 19 paid holidays each year, including two weeks at the end of the year.
  • $600 per year reimbursable stipend for internet service.
  • $1,000 reimbursable stipend for education and training outside of work.
  • Up to $1,200 per year student loan repayment assistance.
  • 401(k) and optional HSA/FSA.
  • Equity participation and a mission-driven, collaborative culture.

Location and Work Style

This role is fully remote. Live wherever and work remotely, with occasional travel to Los Angeles on the company dime as needed for retreats, offsites, and team gatherings - typically between quarterly and yearly. We value in-person interactions for culture building while enabling flexible remote work.
