Job Description
Business Operations Lead
Operations
About Atticus
At any given time, 16 million Americans are experiencing a crisis that requires urgent help from the legal system or government. Atticus makes it easier for sick or injured people in crisis to get life-changing aid. Over the last six years we have become a leading platform that connects people with disabilities to government benefits and helps victims of accidents, misconduct, and violence receive compensation from insurance. To date we have helped more than 110,000 people and supported access to over $4 billion in aid. We closed our Series C round in April 2025 and are well funded. Our team grew from 89 to over 151 last year and we expect further growth in 2025.
Our business is complex and multi-faceted. We operate a two-sided marketplace that coordinates multiple constituencies via a complex funnel, with some parts that are technology-driven and others that are fully human. We invest in building a top-tier Strategy and Business Operations team that oversees core business projects and drives high-impact initiatives. This role is part of that effort.
The Job
This role mixes strategy and execution in ways familiar to consultants, combined with hands-on operational responsibilities in a fast-growing tech startup. You will devise strategy, manage and coordinate projects, gather and analyze data, and help implement solutions across marketing, product, data science, and finance. The role is designed as a pathway to grow as an executive, pursue graduate school, or start your own company.
Typical Responsibilities
- Partner with marketing to analyze acquisition channels, measure ROI, research the market for similar channels, and test new channels at Atticus.
- Develop conceptual frameworks to match clients to the best law firm in our network, accounting for case type, geography, client and firm preferences, and availability, then work with Data Science to operationalize the solution.
- Interview partner law firms to prioritize the next set of product features, then collaborate with Design and Product to create roadmaps and wireframes for launches.
- Quickly gather data, make decisions, and execute on projects that resolve new operating challenges.
- Lead projects that map complex systems, analyze data, make recommendations, and implement solutions across the business.
Qualifications
- You were or are at a top consulting firm and have been promoted at least once.
- You have led projects that mapped complex systems, gathered and analyzed data, made recommendations, and helped design and implement solutions.
- You are a kind and thoughtful colleague who shapes a strong team culture, persuasively advocates for ideas, and secures buy-in from others.
- You have a demonstrated commitment to doing good and helping people.
Bonus - Nice to Have
- Experience with marketplace businesses or complex consumer services such as insurance, fintech, medical, or real estate.
- Experience doing consumer-focused research or discovery work, or comfort interviewing and empathizing with people from diverse backgrounds.
Diversity Statement
We are strongly committed to building a diverse team. If you are from a background that is underrepresented in tech, we would love to meet you.
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to join a startup with strong traction, respected backers, rapid growth, and many happy customers, while remaining small enough for you to have huge impact and help shape our culture. We are a certified B Corporation tackling a critical social problem, and our mission drives everything we do. Your work here will touch many lives.
Salary and Benefits
We offer competitive pay, equity, and generous benefits. We anticipate the base salary band for this role will be between $130,000 to $160,000, plus equity and benefits. The final salary will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity.
- Medical and dental insurance with 100% of employee premiums covered.
- Equity and stock option opportunities.
- 15 vacation days and approximately 19 paid holidays each year, including two weeks at the end of the year.
- Free membership to OneMedical.
- $600 per year reimbursable stipend for internet service.
- $1,000 per year reimbursable stipend for education and training outside of work.
- Up to $1,200 per year student loan repayment assistance.
- 401(k) with optional HSA/FSA.
- Humble, thoughtful, smart, and fun colleagues, plus thoughtfully planned retreats and offsites.
Location and Work Model
This job is fully remote. We are committed to empowering everyone with flexibility - live wherever and work remotely. You will travel to Los Angeles on the company dime as needed to be with colleagues, typically somewhere between quarterly and yearly. We value in-person interactions for culture building and plan retreats, offsites, and other gatherings accordingly.
